The club's President's Ride is taking place on Saturday 29th September this year, and now is the time to book your place on the ride!
For those new to the club this year, the President's Ride is the club's biggest club ride of the year. The ride is starting from Thorneyford Farm at 10am, from where several groups will take different routes to converge at the Swinburne Arms Stamfordham for a buffet lunch.
The Swinburne Arms was traditionally the destination for the Presidents Run for many years but in 2014 we changed venue to the Hearth to accommodate larger numbers. This year we are returning to the Swinburne Arms to make use of their new Event Marquee
Those taking part are invited to arrive early at Kirkley Cafe / Thorneyford Farm to see what the club's youngest members get up to at their Go-Ride sessions at the farm - the cafe will be open for a pre-ride tea or coffee. There will also be a club photo taken at 10am so come along in your club jersey if you have one. There is parking at the farm for those who are driving to the start.
Places for the buffet on the club's annual President's ride are strictly limited, and must be prebooked and paid for through the website here.
The cost is £5 - per head with the balance subsidised by the club. Closing date to book and pay for your place is 9am on Monday 24th September 2018. The ride is likely to be oversubscribed so the recommendation is to book your place as soon as possible.
If you haven't been able to secure a place for the buffet, you are still more than welcome to join the ride itself but will need to consider an alternative venue for lunch.
Looking forward to a summer of great cycling but not sure where to go or how to get there? With over 100 routes the Tyneside Vagabonds Club Rides Route Library is sure to have what you are looking for. Put together from tried and tested routes ridden by club members, it provides an unrivalled source of out and back club riding routes to popular venues within a 40 mile radius of Ponteland, some routes that are a little further afield, and some designed for training purposes, as well as courses used for time trials and hill climb events.
Ranging between 30 and 100 miles, the club riding routes offer something for all types and abilities of rider and can be easily adapted to suit your personal needs. The routes can be viewed on a computer, smartphone or tablet using any of several different map types. They can also be downloaded to GPX or other formats for use out on the road.
The library is growing and dynamic so if you have any good routes that you think others would enjoy let Keith Aungiers know.
To access the library from the club website either:
- from the menu at the top of the screen select 'The Club' then scroll down to 'Club Rides' and across to 'Club Rides Route Library'
- or click on the red box 'Club Rides' to go to that section of the website where on the left you will see a link to 'Club Rides Route Library'
Following either of these will take you to the home screen of the Library at https://ridewithgps.com/users/400003.
