A successful first full year of operation saw the Sunday C group rides growing in popularity. We organised 42 rides of varying distance and toughness to a variety of cafe destinations, and these were enjoyed by groups of up to 20 riders. Special thanks are due to the cohort of leaders who gave their time and effort to ensure that the rides were varied, enjoyable and successful.
We will be continuing in 2017 with a full programme of rides, meeting every Sunday with the exception of days when major club events are being held.
These are not rides for beginners but are intended to be attractive to regular Saturday riders or other moderately fit riders who would like a sociable group ride of between 50-65 miles at a steady pace (typically 14mph) in remote, beautiful and often hilly parts of Northumberland and Durham, and occasionally further afield. Typically the rides follow minor and traffic free roads which include some challenging climbs, with a pre-determined lunchtime café stop. The riding group always tries to stay together with the leader and, where gaps open, the group will slow down to ensure that no one is left behind.
If that sounds like your thing why not come along to Jan's cafe for a 9:30 start any Sunday. You are guaranteed a good day out.
