There will be no coaching on Sat 28th May. The Go-Ride coaching will resume on Saturday 4th June and run for 7 weeks up to and including Sat 16th July. The venue for this block will move back to Thorneyford Farm, Kirkley, where we will use the off road facilities. All bikes should have brakes and gears in working order and all riders will need to wear a cycling helmet.
Venue: Thorneyford Farm, Kirkley, Ponteland, NE20 0AJ
Time: 8:45 - 9:45 Cost: £3 on the day
The coaches will split the riders into appropriate groups based on their ability.
The feedback received from the joint coaching session we arranged with Newcastle Phoenix at Newburn was very positive and we hope to arrange similar activities following on from this. Therefore there may be some changes to the above outline plan…
The next Go-Ride race events have been booked and will be at the farm on Saturday 25th June and Saturday 16th July. These will start at 10:30 after coaching. There will be no Youth club ride on these days
Youth Club Ride
The youth club ride will commence again on Sat 4th June after coaching. They will depart from Kirkley farm at 10:15 after coaching. These youth rides are for those able to ride at an average pace of ~10 mph covering ~20-30 miles, including a café stop. All U12’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Other Racing Opportunities
For those seeking some additional racing opportunities then the take a look at the British Cycling events calendar. There are closed road / circuit opportunities for road racing for all age categories along with MTB and track activities at the new velodrome in Middlesbrough. It great to see such a good and ever increasing turn out of Vags jersey’s at these events.
