The recently revived Sunday C group rides have proved very popular over the winter months and into spring, with groups ranging in size between 5-20 riders enjoying rides to traditional destinations such as Chollerford, Rothbury, Elsdon and Bellingham, as well as new to the calendar venues including Eshottheugh and Swarland. Andy Berne deserves particular mention as a prime mover in ensuring that the rides take place every week and there is now a group of experienced leaders to bring variety to the routes and roads followed. Details of forthcoming rides are in the diary through to June and it is intended to have a full schedule to the end of the year and beyond.
These are not rides for beginners but are aimed at riders with some experience looking for a sociable group ride of between 50-65 miles at a steady pace (typically 14mph) in remote, beautiful and often hilly parts of Northumberland and Durham. If that sounds like your thing why not come along to Jan's cafe for a 9:30 start any Sunday. You are guaranteed a good day out.
