A few more cafes to consider

Post by Keith Aungiers » Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:40 am

Are you tired of going to the same small set of cafes week after week? Or looking for some different places to try and routes to work out before summer ends? The following suggestions are all 'local' but some would take rides into less visited parts of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Durham. I haven't had a chance to try them all yet, but the ones I have tried have additional comments below. Details for each can be found on the web.

1. Hedley's Riverside Coffee shop at Tyne Riverside country park (Newburn) - seats inside and out, a range of good food and great cakes

2. Tyne Riverside Cafe at Tyne Riverside country park (Low Prudhoe) - spacious with seats inside and out, a range of food and cakes

3. Canny Little Kitchen at Choppington

4. The Errington Coffee House, Stagshaw Bank - run by Louise formerly at The Stables

5. The Crescent Cafe, Seaton Delaval - famous for its ice cream and currently expanding capacity

6. Castaways Tea Shop, Collywell Bay, Seaton Sluice

7. Fausto Coffee, Roker, Sunderland - small, cycling themed coffee shop

8. Botanic Gardens cafe, Durham - spacious cafe next to botanic gardens with a range of snacks and cakes

9. Peggotty's, Wolsingham - good range of cakes and foods after those Durham hills

10. Bradley Burn farm shop and cafe, near Wolsingham - good farm shop cafe
