Da Vinci never went there but you could

Post by Keith Aungiers » Wed Nov 28, 2018 6:57 pm

Fans (or not) of Dan Brown's books might be interested in a round trip route that I have 'completed' today from Peebles to Rosslyn Chapel. The route offers great riding on some of the quietest roads around, a couple or more of decent climbs, some fine scenery and the chance for a historical and mystical visit to the Chapel (entry fee of £9 or £7 concessionary). There is a good cafe at the site (and you'll need it after the grind up from Roslin Glen) but only if you pay the entrance fee. Otherwise there are cafes and pubs in Roslin village.

I didn't see any angels but had to contend with my own demons on the way back into a howling wind and heavy rain. By Eddleston I'd had enough so missed out the final section via the Meldons in favour of a straightforward (but unbelievably tough) last few miles down the not too busy A703.

I liked the route so much I have saved it to the club route library here:

Looks like a good ride to do.
Hope you are having a lovely break, Peebles Hydro a great place to use as a base, we stopped there on our recent Scottish C2C ride.
