Audax Away Day - Galashiels Ride of the Valkyries 100km

Post by Andy Berne » Mon Sep 09, 2019 2:58 pm

I'm planning to enter this event which is on Saturday 12 October starting and finishing in Galashiels.

It's a really lovely, scenic route on roads with virtually no traffic. There are some relatively gentle climbs over some of the best passes in the Borders and the benefit of a control at the Jammie Coo Café in Lilliesleaf at 82km. They normally have a very nice selection of very good cakes (Healthy options are available)

If there's a few of us we can ride it as one or two club groups and have a good social day out. Perhaps C2-3 group and a C3-4 group? Ideally with Club Jerseys on please, subject to weather etc.

If you're interested then enter via the Audax UK website www.aukweb.net/events/detail/19-24

Ride with GPS link for anyone interested www.ridewithgps.com/routes/16980652

Entry fee is £10 for AUK/Cycling UK members. £3 surcharge for non-members.

I'm planning a good range of Vags Audax events for next year so if you're planning to ride a few it may be worth thinking about joining Audax UK, if you join now you get your membership until the end of 2020 and don't pay the temporary fees, see link www.audax.uk/join-us
